Basic Necessities was honored to serve the Shreveport-Bossier community following last week's devastating snowstorms. Many ArkLaTex families are still living without water and electricity, and the entire city of Shreveport is under a mandatory water-boil advisory until further notice.
Organizing the relief efforts were The Ollie Initiative, Power Coalition Equity and Justice, and ASAP Shreveport,
Please consider donating to these three organizations! They each do vital work throughout our region to serve our neighbors and make the State of Louisiana a better place for all people to live.
During their 3-day event, Basic Necessities provided the following supplies to local families:
Period Products: 900 tampons and 2500 menstrual pads
Baby wipes: ~2000 wipes
Plan B Emergency Contraception: 80 boxes
Supplies and water were delivered free of charge to the public at sites including Little Union Baptist Church, Huntington High School, Krystalized Kulture, Conehead Banquet Hall, Orlandeaux's Cafe', Calvary Baptist Church, and Peaceful Rest Baptist Church.
Meanwhile, Basic Necessities' newest Board Member, Jaime Cantrell - along with her amazing neighbors - has been organizing a monumental water relief effort in the historic Highland neighborhood!
The snow and ice have melted - but our neighbors in the ArkLaTex still need your assistance until power and water are restored!
Consider supporting the three organizations listed above, or donating to Basic Necessities, as we all work together to serve our neighbors.
